Moonwalker
Also known as "Michael Jackson: Moonwalker". This film is composed of short films about Michael, a few of which are long music videos from the Bad album. The title is named after one of his famous dance techniques known as the "moonwalk". The release date isn't supposed to be on Oct. 29, 1988. Originally, it is supposed to coincide with the release of his Bad album. During the theatrical release of the film, he is also doing his Bad World Tour - first world tour as a solo performer. Moonwalker is not released until Jan. 10, 1989 on Home Video in the US and Canada. The film is released theatrically in Europe and South America, but Warner Brothers cancels plans for a theatrical release in the US for Christmas '88. The video sells more than 800,000 copies in the US by Apr. 17, 1989. |

Former President George H. W. Bush honors Michael Jackson with being the Artist of the Decade.
"The President. You've got a few fans over here. This is what we call a photo opportunity. I just wanted to welcome Michael Jackson here, who has been named Artist of the Decade. And he has a tremendous following. He does good work, what we call the Points of Light concept. I just wanted to bring him out here and officially welcome him to the White House once again.
